As the economy continues to have impacts on job losses, this could be a real issue.

Santa Fe named 4th Best Place to retire by AARP
It’s no secret that Santa Fe has been one of America’s favorite places to retire. This past week, AARP has stated that Santa Fe is number 4 in the healthiest and nicest small cities to live and retire in. In the year 2000, my wife and I decided leave Los Alamos, a small town north and move to Santa Fe. Back then, I was working full time as the State Parks Director after being the City of Santa Fe’s Parks and Recreation Director and working as a part-time Realtor. It’s was the best of both worlds so now I continue to spend 20 hours a week at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center meeting and greeting the patrons and guests to one outstanding recreational facility. The way I look at it, why quit working when you’re doing something you love doing. Each day I meet more and more folks who have chosen to buy a home and retire in Santa Fe but are actively involved in their passions.
As a live long resident to New Mexico, there are few streets and roads I haven’t been on. It’s common when another agent is looking for a street, area of town, or some historical knowledge about Santa Fe or New Mexico, guess who they call to find out the information. I found this interview interesting and want to share with all of you.

If you've ever wanted to have a week end retreat where fishing, canoeing, rafting or viewing nature at it's very best this is the place. Frankly, I've thought about buying it myself, but then I would be compromising by goal to sell the property. The home is outstanding and it sits on 1.7 acres. The overall property has four lots but no one else has built, so for the time being, you'll have the river to yourself. When you neighbors build, the developer made sure that there's a conservation easement to the river so everyone can enjoy the tranquillity of the Rio Grande. I love showing this property so showing it is always a pleasure. Oh yeah, forgot to tell you about the apple orchard. The property was originally an apple orchard in the Dixon apple district. If you love apples, there's plenty to pick from. I enjoyed them last fall.

How often have we heard, "if only I would have bought ten years ago"? Well, I'm here to tell you today may be the a benchmark date 10 years from now. Last week I blogged that I had been waiting to see homes in Tierra Contenta drop below 200K and today the Santa Fe New Mexican reported on homes below 250K. I thought I would pass along some great properties in Santa Fe that I've seen that has some wonderful possibilities.
